Locked in the forest
The workshop will explore - The idea of the forest?
To use the idea of the forest as both a starting point and subject for the production and exploration of your art works.
A forest
large dense growth of trees
land covered in trees and other plants growing close together, or the trees growing on it
not see the forest for the tree - used to indicate that somebody is too concerned with the details to appreciate the general nature of a situation or problem
large number of upright objects - a collection of often tall upright objects, densely packed and so resembling a forest of trees
for example - a forest of microphones.
The workshop will take the forest as an idea to explore visual and material forms of representation.
myths, narratives, histories, locations, objects, night/day, place to find things, a place to get lost !!
Arbeidsform:
To explore and develop question and ideas about the forest in relation to the
production and presentation of your art practice.
Thinking about the forest and narrative structures.
The idea of the forest as a site-subject-object.
The aim is to develop practical skills and critical reflection that can help the development of
your current art production.
The workshop will be structured using the following: Individual and group tutorials, group
presentations and seminars and practical workshops.
Central to the workshop will be an exploration of both the historical and contemporary
conditions that may influence our understanding of the forest in relation to art production
today. What they might be? How they are constructed? Where they exist?
