Group tutorial. Wednesday 19/3,
10 AM 6TH FLOOR
Inspiration is defined as,
“the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something.”
1.an inspiring or animating action or influence: I cannot write poetry without inspiration.
2. something inspired, as an idea.
3. a result of inspired activity.
4 a divine influence directly and immediately exerted upon the mind or soul.
Aspiration is defined as:
“a hope or ambition of achieving something.”
1. strong desire, longing, or aim; ambition: intellectual aspirations.
2. A goal or objective desired
Stimulation versus ambition. Excitement versus action.
And most significantly, external versus internal.
Inspiration is something we seek to ingest from outside.
Aspiration is something we cultivate within ourselves.
Each student gets approx 10 minutes to present some sort of inspiration source, which is relevant to his or her artistic practice. It can be an artwork, an artist, a band, a movie, a book, a poem, a theme or something they just like. Anything goes.
How do you use your inspiration sources? How to translate it into your own work?
Lets discuss the use of references, appropriation, and sampling and how to translate it into your own language and into your artistic practice.
