PROJECTION – workshop with Duncan Higgins

Projection: The transferring, throwing or presentation of an image/s on a surface.

What?

This will be explored via: Still or moving or sequences of images or light or live footage.

  • Ideas of how projection can transform a space using projection.
  • How images and their narrative structure can be transformed via projection

Where?

Exploring different spaces for projection: Indoor spaces, architectural spaces, in the city on buildings and outdoors in the forest, lakes and mountain.

How?

Exploring, questioning and developing the different practical and critical methods of projection.


Arbeidsform:

Student requirements

To gather together images, film clips, sequences of images as image files on a usb memory stick or 35mm slides.

The workshop will develop ideas, themes and questions for both the production of new images and re-use of existing images.

The aim is to develop practical skills and critical reflection that can help the development of your current art production, contexts for presenting and emotional understanding.

The workshop will be structured using the following: Individual and group tutorials, Group presentations and seminars. Practical workshops. Fieldwork – being out making work and site specific installation.

The intention is to have a series of exhibition/installations during the workshop to test out and document the work in progress.
