The workshop will examine the short and recent history of contemporary ceramic makers and artists and their newfound interest in the use of the found object the ready-made and other materials.

Questions
What comes first the ceramic or the found?
How does the ceramic change the found and visa versa?
If the ceramic material is to be changed by firing what are the implications?
Can the ceramic material be found?
What are the structural and practical implications in using the found?
Are we adding value or changing meaning by incorporating the found?

Arbeidsform:
Through lectures, examples, discussions we will explore the ethics, practicality and possibilities of combines of ceramic and the found object or material. This is essentially a practical, Studio based and experimental workshop.
