Workshop in Poland
The workshop will be devoted to site-specific art. It will take place in an abandoned old farm, typical of the Polish countryside, located approximately 2 km from the Plein Air House of ASP in Dłużew, where the workshop participants will live.
(Alternatives to the topic: habitat, farm as a place that was, is and will be.)
The goal and the framework of the creative work of the workshop participants will be to create collective work consisting of autonomous pieces, connected with each other and relating to the place where they will be created – a farm, a kind of microcosm, both a dwelling and a workplace, a specific production plant.
The workshop participants will not be bound by an organizational framework. The method will be left to the initiative of the students. In order to get to know each other’s projects there will be frequent discussions meetings which will allow for cross-referencing to the emergent works. All possible art genres are acceptable, including performance – according to the principle of full freedom. The only limitation will be avoiding permanent interference – so that after the workshop, the farm could be restored to its original state. Participants of the workshop will be provided with a variety of materials – waste from industrial plants and the necessary tools. The workshop will be end on the farm, but it will be recorded on a film documenting the progress of work and the final results. The film will be shown for a few days in June at one of the ASP’s galleries to show.
