Suuls artwork is a fusion between organic and industrial inspirations, aiming to crate as many associations as possible and opening for a wide range of individual interpretations. He consider all his work to be the product of an absurd combination of associations – always expressed in the form of a visual question and addressed to assumed denominators in the public’s cultural background and experience. It is often both positively and negatively charged, capable of generating uncomfortable and macabre associations as well as humorous ones.
Extended version – sculptural remix:
The aim of this project is to create and explore flexible three dimensional systems by developing sculptural elements that can easily be manipulated into new contexts by adding and/or subtracting visual information. The questions asked in this project will investigate both “introvert” sculpture, as well as staged situations where the surroundings “shed light” upon the three dimensional objects. It is possible to do research within this field by approaching the process and the physical results systematically. What is the cause and effect of different attachments of visual information that separately communicate on different levels? My aim is not to create standardized approaches or certain sculptural attributes for everyone to use, but the results of the project will contribute to a general increase of competence within subject areas concerned with further developing sculpture as artistic expression.

Skulpturarena öst er en nysatsing fra Norsk Billedhoggerforening. Prosjektet startet opp 1. april i år og har mottatt støtte til prosjektutvikling fra Oslo kommune. I løpet av en periode på tre år vil Norsk Billedhoggerforening utvikle Skulpturarena öst som en arena for tredimensjonal kunst med skiftende utstillinger, prosjekter, seminarer og aktiviteter av både nasjonal og internasjonal karakter.
Arenaen har sitt hjerte i den store hagen til Billedhoggerhuset i Hekkveien 5 på Carl Berner og strekker seg videre ut i området i de enkelte utstillinger.
Skulpturarena öst har også etablert et prosjektrom på Carl Berner t-banestasjon. Det vil fungere som et fast visningssted med skiftende utstillinger og prosjekter. Prosjektrommet har en eksperimentell profil.
