Photography, Sculpture, Spaces and Concepts - Workshop med Susa Templin

"Sculptural Photography - Constructing Neverland"

Photography is a very young medium which reflects and represents the reality on a flat surface, the Photographic Image.
In this workshop I offer a different approach: to question the surface of medium and to physically work with Photography in a sculptural, threedimensional way in order to go a step beyond the photographed image.
This way we will explore intersections between Photography, Architecture and Sculpture, playing photography’s purportedly transparent portrayal of spaces against its own physicality as a potentially sculptural medium.
We will rethink the idea of the flat photographic image as a "recording" medium and will use photography in order to build realities made of photographs.

"Constructing Neverland" -
in this workshop we will create our own, personal threedimensinal Paradise/Garden/Land by using photographs as "work-material" to bend, tape and cut-thru images.
In small groups or as single positions, we will physically construct humansize objects and spaces made of the students photographs taken of public and/or private spaces to create the classroom-sized Nordic Neverland.

The result will be a gallery-sized Nordic Neverland, that consists of the students sculptures and buildings that the viewer can enter or walk around to physically experience the space made of photographs.

This groupwork will lead in a presentation of "KHiB-Neverland" that will be on view at th end of the course.
