Photography and technique
1. Introduction to darkroom. Materials, equipment etc
2. Camera and exposure. Light meter, spot, reflection. What is a histogram?
3. Darkroom – black/white. Developing film. Students should bring their own film.
4. Darkroom – colour. Colour theory and technique.
5. The digital darkroom. Photoshop. RAW format. The digital photography`s "negative", HDR (High Dynamic Range). Video editing, sound editing, production of CD/DVD.
6. Studio – Lighting
7. How to use the camera – large format
8. Advanced darkroom – Ansel Adam`s zone system.
Workform:
Lectures, discussions, practical work.
This course in available only for 1st year Photography students and exchange students at Photography. There will be a course in photography for other students later this fall term.
Prequalifications:
Since many of the disciplines build on each other, we expect that everybody attends all the courses. The courses are obligatory for new BA students (Photography). Introduction to darkroom is obligatory for new MA students.
