1BA. Theory week 3. Topic: ”Entusiastic aesthetics”
WEEK 2 - 2010 (Theory week 3)
In the series of intensive lecturing weeks, this is the third. "The need for theory" was the main topic during the first week. The idea that every piece of art also contains an art theory is important. During theory week 2 we took a step further. The general headline was: ”applied art theory” – focusing on what is often referred to as ”depth models” in contemporary art.
In theory week 3 (week 02-2010) we will also talk about "applied art theory", but this time we will not squeeze the presentation into a frame. Every lecture arises out of the different theories`own research and experience. The lectures will deal with individual and universal criteria for quality, taste and judgmental power, aesthetics and special interests in the area of contemporary art. "Art Since 1900” is the most important book. This book will give you valuable impiulses to participate in the discussions we will have after each lecture.
NB! First day: Tuesday 12 January.
Second part: Put your head on the block - on how to make judgments in art critique. A survey of the last years` biennals/festivals and final exhibitions. (Øystein Hauge)
Program for the rest of the week (Wednesday - Friday) to be announced.
