Basic video editing: technical
A technically based introduction to video editing by means of Final Cut Pro. Skills can be used on similar programs.
The introduction is based on SD (standard definition video), but is useful for all who works with HD.
The course will introduce you to:
- different formats and kodecs, setting up the system, mediafolders, using external harddrives
- getting even time code, logging and capturing clips
- inpoints and outpoints, clips vs media files (offline and online media)
- use of sequences, projects, importing different kinds of media
- the browser, the viewer, the timeline
- creating a composition, working in layers
- linking, stereopairs, syncing, etc
- using generators: colors, text, etc
- working with scaling, opacity, transitions and filters, keypoints and dynamic effects
- working with sound
- exporting to tape, to moviefile, to mpeg2 etc
- Using compressor for exporting files
- making a simple DVD with DVD Studio Pro
Workform:
Lectures/practical introduction, demonstration of the labs, individual work and group work in the labs after classes.
Prequalifications:
Basic data skills is essential. Bring video material for individual work.
Participants in Videoworx will be prioritized.
