CASTING w. Saskia Ruth/Gottfried Krüger
Practical workshop lead by Saskia Ruth and Gottfried Krüger offering basic and advanced knowledge in the making of positive and negative forms for casts in plaster, silicone, paper, wax and other nontoxic and toxic materials (Epoxy, Polyurethane).

1. Object
Until February 12th: Send an image / sketch and a description of object and your intentions (materials you wish to use, purpose, functionality, surface, color, size etc) to Saskia Ruth saskiaruth2@yahoo.de with a copy to kk@khib.no
Think about and prepare the object you wish to cast. The object should not be larger than a head. It will be difficult to make a mould of a tangle of cables, textile objects or fur for example but any form not more than half-closed could be used for the mould.
Possible Materials:
regular plaster (can be colored)
re-inforced plastic or hard plaster (can be colored)
Polyurethane (yellowish, can be colored)
PU Hard Foam (can be colored)
PU Soft Foam, flexible
Epoxy (transparent, can be colored to remain translucent)
Latex (exclusively for plaster forms, limited coloring possible)
Wax (Paraffin, bee wax)
Silicone for the moulding , flexible, can be colored
chocolate, soap, pudding......
2. Material Fee
Until January 1, 2010: Pay 700 NOK to Akademiet and confirm payment to kk@khib.no. Unless fees are paid on due dates spaces will be offered to other students . You can pay in Strømgaten or at the office (Turid Sundfjord) in Academy 4th floor.
3. Obligatory Friday afternoon clean-up 14 - 16 hrs
Bring discardable clothing.
