Design methodology

The price winner Stian Hole compares the designer with an athlete. «It is the daily struggle, trying and failing that in the end gives the results. The art myth, where inspiration falls from the sky to a person with a god given gift or talent, I do not like. It takes time to be a good artist. Most writers I know, work systematically and concentrated and throw away most of their written stuff. But everything that happens during the creative process cannot be analysed or rationally explained, especially not the brief moments when things open up and you are floating, when you forget about your self. The feeling that everything fall into place, or a coincidence that makes you see something from a completely new and unexpected angle».
Like in sports, design also has a mental side. How can you bring out your potential and achieve a hundred percent under pressure?
Is it possible to become a better designer by means of a little box? Can you do something yourself to more often have the "floating" feeling? Why are some of the design tasks a pleasure, while others can feel like a frustrating grind?
This course`s goal is to become more aware of what method to use when designing, and get an insight into and test new methods. In addition it is important to get to know oneself better as a designer, and to reflect on what factors are promoting or obstructing good processes.
