Excursion Norwegian industry

Study trip emphasising visits to businesses, exhibitions and architect offices.

The goal of the class is to give the students insights into – and understanding of – production processes and the connection between designers, production and subcontractors.

The company visits will show a part of the diversity and breadth of Norwegian furniture industry, and will give the students a broader understanding of what is behind the work done by designers, product developers, production and subcontractors. The trip will contribute to sparking interest and devotion in the students for this field which requires renewal, new designers, new ideas and new solutions.

Guided tours through one of the most architectonic consistent cities in Jugend style.
By visiting the Jugend centre and Kube Art Museum, viewpoint Aksla, interior architect office Rom
and Ã…lesund Kunstskole, the students will have knowledge of style and architecture history, Ã…lesund`s local history and what activities go on today, relevant to our profession.

We will also visit one of the most advanced environments for 3D modulation, DAK / DAP and machining of figures and plugs on a 5 axis CNC.

Visit various companies, lectures, exhibitions, architecture, discussions, social gatherings. The students should prepare their own reports which will be reviewed at the end of the term.

Passed 2nd term BA Furniture or corresponing.
