Graphical concrete
A new technique, graphical concrete, has for the past few years been generating great interest in the construction business. This technique provides great opportunities for art in our constructed environments. Using this technique, it is possible to print digital images and patterns on a concrete surface, thus making art a highly integrated, present part of buildings. This course will provide an understanding of concrete as an artistic material, and the basic principles of graphic concrete.
The technique comes from printing with a special retarder on a membrane. After developing the result of the process is a picture which appears as a relief on the concrete surface. The object you start with could be a photograph or a simple graphical texture.
Bybanen will be the topic of the course, and we have a coooperation with Spenncon Betong, Graphic Concrete Ltd and Bergen Kommune.
This course will introduce you to:
Concrete as a general material with special focus on how to use it in art work, and concrete as an architectonic means of expression.
