Information design - pictograms

Goal:

Give insight into an d understanding of the development and use of pictograms and pictogrammatic programs.

Pictograms are everywhere - on public toilet s, your cell phone, computers, signs and transport systems. They inform, warn, and sometimes they just decorates.
This course will give an insight into and experience with the needs and development of the small and compact forms, which are used in identified environments and situations where information and ideas can be communicated in a more efficient way visually than in writing.
Content:
Development of a series (or more) visual symbols
Chose communication site(s)
Serial development and module systems
Judging the denotative or connotative values.


Workform:

Define, plan and form a communication tool
Consciousness on communication norms and qualities
Production of visual ideas
Reviews, group and indivual tutoring
Presentations
Prioritized methods:
Analysis of demand and perception
Reflection on meaningful communication
Idea development


Prequalifications:

Basic knowledge of visual communication
