Marketing and communication

Goal: the course will give the students insight into how modern marketing works. Emphasis will be on understanding the kind of philosophy which underlies marketing. In addition, an important goal will be gaining an understanding of the effects marketing consists of. Special emphasis on design as a marketing tool. The course will also have a critical perspective on the role of marketing in our modern (postmodern) society.
Academic content: the course deals with the following main topics:
1. Marketing and strategies for PR
2. Market segment
3. Message content
4. Message formulating
5. Choice of media
6. Effect measuring
