Narrating images

"Once upon a time" is an urging mantra - leading in to many a fantastic universe, realistic as well as fictitious.
This course aims at giving the students an introduction to and training in passing on a literary text through images.
The students may choose if they want to illustrate their own text, or the story handed out at the beginning of the course.
While their own material is new and untried, the given history has already been told and illustrated several times.
Has the material stagnated in its form, or is it possible to think of a solution beyond tradition?
Inspired of lectures and through practical training and working methods, the students shall practice:

  • To interpret, create and visualise a story through a series of images.
  • To compose and dramatise in such a way that the story appears as a coherent structure and not just as a series of loose and incidental elements.
  • To test and to experience how choice of technique influences a story`s expression and the reader`s perception.
