Printing on textiles with pigment-emulsions
Pigment emulsion can be used for printing on all sorts of textiles…. And other stuff too!
A theoretical and practical introduction to various pigment emulsions and different textile binders.
The students will be given an introduction to the following:
Colour pigments:
Textile pigments from Hoechst, Udesen, Spektrum etc. common paint pigments designed for paper, neon colours, gold, silver, bronze, carbon powder etc.
Textile binders:
Commonly used textile binder, emulsions for gold, silver etc, glossy and opaque binders, elastic binders, mother pearl binder, expandex binder, lamination binder, plastic binder.
The course aims at giving students from other subject areas an introduction to, and experience with, a type of textile printing that is easy to use in painting/printing and does not require advanced tools.
The course also gives textile students the opportunity to elaborate their knowledge in this field.
Workform:
Lectures, practical work on testing the different products and techniques on different materials. Use of simple printing techniques that don't require previous knowledge on how to make printing frames. Individual experimentation in cooperation with the course leader and the subject coordinator of textile.
Necessary introduction to questions of health, environment and safety.
Price: NOK 300,-. In addition students will have to pay for some of the materials used.
