Public space

Part 1 - Inquiry and user analysis

Goal:
Develop concepts for improvement of use and experiences within a given public space. As part of a small group, you will investigate the advantages of interdisciplinary work, planning and distributing tasks, common idea development and concept development on basis of different subject areas. You will experience direct contact with users, various situations and analysis.
Content:
The students will solve problems within public space.
Part 1: 1 student fram subject areas furniture design/interior design and 1 student from visual communication will work togehter on inquiries and user analysiss.
Part 1 is carried out in cooperation with Dept. of Design. In Part 2 we encourage the students to cooperate on a voluntary basis.
Based on a given project (premises/building) the students will carry out inquiries and user analysis on the use of the given project, how it is understood and experienced, who the users are, which functions should be established or improved, and what is today`s and tomorrow`s demands/needs. (Analysis of use, needs, function and situation).
The finds and ideas from Part 1 should be visualised and presented through sketches in plenary Friday 4 September 2009.
