Subject history - furniture design
Insight into main tendencies in the history of furniture design, Norwegian and international.
Formal, functional and cultural relations will be stressed, in addition to the broad art and design historical connection.
Early fall there will be visits to furniture distributors in showrooms in Bergen to get an overview over what is going on in the field, and in order to try the furniture`s functionality. Also visits to Damsgård Hovedgård and Vestlandske Kunstindustrimuseum.

Goal: The students will have an overview over and an understanding of furniture history, and learn how to look at it in a broader cultural historical context.
A series of lectures in spring term.
