Videoworx is a workshop series on video art consisting of thematic workshops, technical introduction and individual work with demonstrations, lectures, assignments, discussions, and reviews.
Making time
Permanency and movement can be seen as something not dealt with by means of notion, and appears on one level as something that can be found on the perceptible level. Simultaneously people have developed wide range of notions and tools to be able to deal with time.
In this second part of Videoworx we will look at the complex relationship between ideas, perception and technology according to time and movement and how they can be processed in different visual structures. We will watch film and discuss different strategies for composing in time, create different ways of experiencing time, both in conceptual context and in image sequences. Introduction to video editing in Final Cut. This should be followed up by more technical oriented courses and individual work in the video lab.
Art works shown: Unn Fahlstrøm, Ivar Smestad, Torbjørn Sørensen, Fischli and Weiss, Francis Alys, Robert Cahen, Oskar Fishinger, HC Gilje, Gary Hill, Jonas Dahlberg, Bill Viola, Chris Marker, etc
