Sound workshop – your sound is my sound is your sound
The power and poetics of sound partially reside in weaving together the private and the public – sound might be said to disregard distinctions of “mine” and “yours” by transgressing boundaries of space and shifting the notion of the original. Such transgressions productively create possibilities for sharing, unsettling the fixity of private and public, and allowing expressions of collectivity. Engaging these themes the workshop will explore methods for using sound as a creative medium. It will introduce audio recording, processing and composing while examining how sound creates meaning. Participants will become involved in a process of sound sharing, where sounds are passed back and forth over a period of days, to create a platform for collective exchange and working.
