Basic communication theory
Goal: The course deals with basic communication theories. The students should be capable of analysing communication. Special attention will be given to design as communication.
Academic content: The course covers the following main areas:
1. Rhetoric (classic rhetoric, new rhetoric and visual rhetoric)
2. Semiotics
3. Hermeneutics
4. Analysis of target audiences – identity/segmentation
5. Aesthetics (sociological aesthetics)
6. Narratology
7. Introduction to discourse analysis
