Commentary II – photography

Rapid technological development create new arenas for visual communication – digital or printed.

Over 90% of publicated pictures are photos. More media does not necessarily mean higher quality.

How to fill all the space, and how?

Goals: Using basic knowledge of photography – techniques, composition – students' visualisation tools are widened and strengthened.

The course will also challenge techniques and formality, the students' ability to observe, reflect and comment current affairs, and make them aware of the possibility to create meaningful pictures.

In addition to the commentary, the course usually improves the students' product and process documentation, improving the quality of their portfolio etc.

Content: During the first week, there will be a basic introduction to the camera and its parts and function. Theory will be followed by daily assignments and quick feedback. Challenges will be more complex as students master the techniques, and discussions will be focusing on the photography as a commentary.
