Excursion – Norwegian industry
Interdisciplinary excurison emphasising visits to businesses, exhibitions and design companies. The goal for the trip is to give the students insights into – and understanding of – production processes and the connection between designers, manufacturers and subcontractors within the furniture and textile industry. Ålesund, background and present time.
Guided tours through one of the most architectonic consistent cities in Jugend style.
By visiting the Jugend centre and Kube Art Museum, viewpoint Aksla, interior architecture company Rom, and Ã…lesund Kunstskole, the students will have knowledge of style and architecture history, Ã…lesund`s local history and activities today, relevant to our profession.
Industry, technology and design.
The company visits will show a part of the diversity and breadth of Norwegian furniture and textile industry, and will give the students a broader understanding of the work done by designers, product developers, manufacturers and subcontractors. The trip will contribute to sparking interest and devotion in the students for this field which requires renewal, new designers, new ideas and new solutions. We will also visit one of the most advanced environments for 3D modulation, DAK/DAP and machining of figures and plugs on a 5 axis CNC.
Workform:
Private bus the whole trip. Leaving KHiB Monday 18 October and returning to Bergen Friday 22 October. Visits to various companies, guided tours, lectures, exhibitions, architecture, discussions, social gatherings.
Also possible to stay at Innvik Sellgren textile factory to participate a weaving course Friday till Sunday. (Contact Jon Pettersen for registration). Students should prepare their own report for future use, during and after the study which will be reviewed at the end of the term. Evaluation on KHiB's website when returning to Bergen.
Prequalifications:
Completed and passed interdisciplinary course "Design process/Digital weave", week 39–41.
The course starts 18/10/2010 / Week 42, and ends 22/10/2010 / Week 42
