I will do a series of talks in the mornings ( after the Monday meeting on Monday) and a series of tutorials in the afternoons.We will make a list.

The talks deal with proceedings of thinking in the making of art - as thinking in the sense that it is the conjunction of theory and practice – the non-dialectical conjunctive relationship of theory and practice. The talks will try out the effects of some concepts borrowed from philosophy, when aligned to the perception of aesthetic phenomena belonging to the domain of art.

The overall sequence of the talks will be as follows:

1. Ur-konseptualismus – Wittgenstein and some artwork. Ad Reinhardt, Early Kosuth, Art & Language et al.

2. The presence and working of the being of the in between – Derrida and some artwork. Jean Marc Bustamante, Rachel Whiteread et al.

3. Phase-space – Deleuze and some artwork. Joseph Beuys et al.

4. Point of excess – inclusion and belonging. Badiou and some artworks. Duchamp et al..

5. Description without place. Art beyond romanticism, classicism and didacticism. Possible implications of the thinking of Alain Badiou as regards visual art.

This being the signposting, the talks will deal with perception, composition, decision-making and consequences, anecdotes and loose talk unrestrained by the academic discipline required if we were theoreticians and not practitioners of the making of objects - as there is an emphasis upon the making of some thing thought more so than the making of the thinking of its reflection? Or is there really a distinction?
