Furniture design – construction
Project period – furniture design. The assignment intends to provide the students with an understanding of sizes, proportions and basic ergonomics through their development, in full scale, of a piece of seating furniture. The students will utilize their knowledge of materials, contructions, drawing and use of workshops acquired during the previous term.
The students will present their results in the form of a prototype during an in-class review in the project room in Marken 37.
The process and the result are to be documented using pictures and a short description of the choices made and the reasons for using them, to be used in the portfolio.
The students are expected to evaluate the course at KHiB's website.
Workform:
Individual work on sketches, models and prototypes in classrooms and workshops.
Individual tutoring.
Prequalifications:
Approved: Safety course workshop, Load-bearing constructions, Ergonomy and mock-up, and Schematic drawing – plan and survey.
The course starts 01/03/2011 / Week 09, and ends 18/03/2011 / Week 11
