Identity Theory
Goal: The goal of the course is to make the students conscious of how to understand their own and other people`s identity. It is especially important to understand ones own identity as a designer. Identity is an ambiguous concept, hence it is important to pass through many different perspectives and different academic traditions' views on the field.
Academic content: the course deals with the following main themes:
1. Sociological identity theory
2. Psychological identity theory
3. Anthropological identity theory
4. Demographic identity theory
5. Identity semiotics/rhetorics/hermeneutics
6. Segmentation and targeted group analysis
7. Modernity theory/globalisation theory
8. Media created identity
Workform:
15 hours seminar lecturing. Discussion with students will be emphasized.
