Industrial furniture design – idea and model

design_kreativ

Goal:

Gain knowledge of and experience in the first part of a design process aimed at industrial furniture production. The students will be trained in creative, analytical design work and holistic thinking. Insight into efficient production methods and prepariation of prototypes.

Content:

tegning

Based on industrial furniture design, the project period aims at guiding the students through the first part of a methodical design process. From defining a problem, through analysis and brainstorming to detailed schematic drawing or working drawing in scale 1:1 and models in scale 1:5. During the subsequent project periods, the result will be realised as a full-scale prototype.

Students must come up with suggestions for at least three different solutions, and visualise the results through sketches and sketch models. The solution must consist of: Schematic drawing of optional scale with details in scale 1:1. Necessary text and dimension of the drawn material. Brief, written statement about idea and concept. Presentation. Documentation of the process through pictures and text in a PowerPoint presentation. Together with documentation during the next periods, this should form a general project presentation from the first sketch until a complete prototype.

Review in class 19 November in the project room, Marken 37. Evaluation at KHiB's website.
