Industrial furniture design – product development
Goal:
Gain knowledge and experience in the second part of a design process aimed at industrial furniture production. The students will be trained in methodical product development, investigation, problem solving, and practical work by building prototypes. Expanded knowledge on materials and production techniques relevant for the task, and training in how to orientate and establish contact and connection with relevant vendors of goods and services.
Content:
Building a prototype. Development of results from previous project period "Industrial furniture design – idea and model". The students obtain information on possibilities, materials and solutions, and develop their ideas into drawings in scale 1:1. Order materials and services, build their own prototypes in workshops or in cooperation with external competencies.
The final result will be presented in a class review in the project room Friday 17 December

Workform:
Tutoring, investigation, lectures, input, visits to companies, individual project work in classrooms and the school's workshops. Reviews in class, discussions on excamples of product development processes. Documentation by digital pictures, sketches and text. Final review with presentation of all projects. Teaching in freehand drawing as a means of presentation.
Prequalifications:
Passed project period "Industrial furniture design – idea and model".
The course starts 23/11/2010 / Week 47, and ends 17/12/2010 / Week 50
