Luminous public space
The course is experimental and will be concluded by staging one or more public spaces in Bergen using light.
Bergen has many public spaces with their own atmosphere. Lighting existing areas or introducing new elements that are capturing the light, will give the space an atmosphere that will give the audience a fascinating experience this term. Different types of lighting will be experienced with – from candles to fittings – giving various effects. Various types of spatial atmosphere will be worked with to develop new types of fittings, different compositions of various standardised units and various components reflecting light.
This is a two-week course. The first week will be spent on experimenting. During the second week, the lighting is realised. The stagings are presented Wednesday till Sunday week 44. Students will be documenting effects and atmosphere these days.
Workform:
Working in smaller groups; results are collected to one joint project at the end.
Prequalifications:
No particular previous knowledge. Condition: interest in the opportunities of light.
