Public space II – illustration and installation
Which opportunities does the 3 dimensional space provide the illustrator to produce new ideas and solutions, regarding traditional media like a book or a screen?
Illustration is not connected to certain techniques, material or media, as such. An illustration can be a drawing, a photography, a painting, a knitted or carpented product etc.
It can be 2D or 3D, large or small, static, movable.
How is your interpretation influenced by the space's function, size, light, lines and atmosphere?
Goals: Based on a given assignment, students are making an installation to be integrated and communicating in a space. The goal is to make students curious and face challenges with an open mind, and through new experience approach an illustration in a new way. Through their knowledge on visual communication, they can have an influence on the public space.
Content: During the first part, there will be lectures on “the space”, both physical and mental, and the specific subject. Based on research individually and in groups, a diverse idea and sketch material will result in a basic suggestion and a model. Regular logging their own working process will be a basis for a course report and a presentation. Review individually and in class through the whole course.
