Typography is like music. Creating good music requires knowledge, ear for music and practice. The same is applicable to typography; a trained eye for typography is needed. Bad typography is like music out of tune. Typography is one of the basic elements in visual communication and graphic design. Typography surrounds us in all media and all channels. It is about structuring the information hierarchy to an entire form.
Goal:

Acquire basic knowledge about and working methods within typography and typographic hierarchy. Gain basic skills in InDesign and simple photo editing in Photoshop. Use font and layout to have variation, and get a common understanding of and create a platform for typography and graphic design as communication.

Content:

Composition, typographic hierarchy, typographic effects and detailed typography. Lectures on detailed typography, font groups, font families, readability, font on the screen, etc.
Method:
Outlining as a method, development of ideas, practice in terminology
Workform:
Lectures on font theory. Practical assignments in typographic composition and font. Software training is integrated in assignments, lectures and in the individual tutorials.
Evaluation: Several in-class reviews of method, process, sketches and result.

Medium:
Assignments are not related to medium. Last assignment is based on the poster as a medium.
