FoU-rapport 2010

Area of focus

Rubbish reflections
An experiment using pictograms to investigate objects and attitudes
Research question: “How can symbols and pictograms as a visual examination of the various perceptions of rubbish encourage philosophical reflections on what really is trash, or not trash?”
My aim as a designer and visual communicator in this project is to explore the possibilities to use symbols and pictograms that we all accept as simple and inflexible visual messages, to express abstractions and more sophisticated messages. I have chosen the theme of rubbish for my investigation into how to use accepted visual symbolic norms in a context and expression that is unexpected.

Livsdans

Utstilling/Exhibition - nordic light, International festival of photography

Designer Ashley Jane Booth lagt Trines små lyriske tekster inn i bildene.

Difficult days

Seminar/Workshop - KHiB and Megafon magasin

Anyone can have a "difficult life". It can apply for shorter or longer periods and it can affect you as an individual or as part of a group facing challenges in society. In this project we will work with some of those who have a difficult life. By asking "disadvantaged" to show us (visualize) and tell us about their lives, we will collect their stories of a difficult life and transform these into a series of pictograms.
