FoU rapport for 2011

Untitled (in between), 2011, 100 x 80 cm, C-print, Diasec

Area of focus

ongoing work:

I work in parallel, side by side with two lens based medias; still images in the form of photography and moving images in the form of video and film also as spatial presentations involving built elements and structures as part of a piece.

In terms of subject matter, my work can be roughly devided into two categories: staged-works and landscape-works. The categorization here originates from two different kinds of practices in the working process. In the two ongoing landscape projects, the two categories have started to intertwine, the boundaries wind together. These are works-in-progress and are planned to be presented in future exhibitions.

The staged photography, produced and exhibited in 2011, can be seen as a direct continuum to the themes of my previous photography and video work. The media is under study; the process of photographing, the photographical event and the gesture of presentation of the image object. The new body of these works are titled In Sooth and will be presented first time in a group exhibition in Helsinki, spring 2012.
